Lisbon board approves hires

The Lisbon School Board last week approved two new hires and three resignations.

Art teacher Mark Benesh is leaving the district to become the middle school art teacher in Mount Vernon. Lisbon school leaders praised Benesh's work, particularly how he helped kids in areas outside of the art classroom.

The board also approved the resignations of Amanda Kahl, assistant volleyball coach, and Melissa Canning, dance coach.

Board members okayed the hires of Rachel Heiar, assistant volleyball coach, and Taylor Sedlacek, dance team coach.

In other action, the board approved a bid from $35,405 from Telecom Services of Iowa for a new districtwide phone system.

The district learned that adding phones to the current system for the new early childhood center wasn't possible. The new system will replace a system that's at least 20 years old.
