Dr. Larry E. Cornelius
July 13, 2012
Dr. Larry E. Cornelius, a longtime Mount Vernon chiropractor, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at home at 11 Knox Lane, Bella Vista, Ark., 72715.
He was born May 17, 1945, to Lloyd and Armella (Payne) Cornelius. He graduated from Graettinger High School, attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, then Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, graduating in 1967.
As a doctor of chiropractic specializing in sports injury, he practiced in Graettinger, Forest City and Mount Vernon. His successful solo practice in Mount Vernon began in 1981 and he retired Dec. 1, 2009.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marcie; step-daughters, Mary Peterson (James), daughters Meagan, Anna and Sierra of Cedar Rapids, Peggy (Greg) Christiansen and sons, David and Dane of Madison, Wis., and Linda (George) Fenwick, of Sheldon, N.D., and sons Ryan and Dalton; his mother, Armella of Estherville; and his brother, Leonard (wife Suzer) and niece, Heather, all from Washington, Utah.
After retirement, Larry and Marcie moved to Bella Vista as it was Larry's dream to live in the middle of a city surrounded by golf courses. He played in leagues and with the Hummers, and if it wasn't a league day he was playing on the Branchwood course behind his house.
Larry fought a valiant battle with cancer, eventually entering into hospice at-home care June 25. Now he is playing rounds of golf in Heaven with his father, Lloyd, who will show him how to make the holes in one.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Highlands United Methodist Church Friday, July 6. A memorial fund has been established at Highlands Church, 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715.
