New Mount Vernon teacher: Abby Ohlaug

Abby Ohlaug, 27, is teaching 7th/8th grade special education.
She is a native of Vinton and lives in Cedar Rapids.
Her family includes her husband, Brandon.
She graduated from Vinton-Shellsburg High School (2004) and the University of Northern Iowa (2008).
Her experience includes teaching for three years at Regina Elementary in Iowa City.
Ohlaug said it was a passion to help students succeed that led her to teaching.
She described her teaching philosophy: "All students are unique and capable of becoming successful members of society."
Outside of school, she enjoys the outdoors, traveling and sports. |
