In the 2012 Kernoustie tourney, Matt Sargent earned the club championship with a 99. His caddy was his father, Mark. The championship round was 27 holes.

"Matt's fine play was only eclipsed by Mark's superior caddying ability," said Kernoustie Golf Club owner Mark Kerr.

Runner-up was Darin Vig with a 104. Dana Vig finished third with a 105. Brock Slaymaker and Jeff Crow tied for fourth with a 107.
