Phil Whitman
Phil Whitman, 30, will be teaching alternative kindergarten and 6-12 physical education.
The Lisbon native currently lives in Center Junction and plans to move to back to Lisbon.
His family includes his wife, Chrissy, and daughters, Elin, 2, and Presley, 5 months.
Whitman graduated from Lisbon High School in 2000, Kirkwood Community College in 2003 and Coe College in 2007.
He previously taught for four years in the Midland Community Schools.
In high school, he worked in the Lisbon Early Childhood Center and enjoyed working with the children there. He also had the opportunity to start coaching football in 2002 and enjoyed it so much that he wanted to get into education.
Whitman describes his teaching philosophy: "To help make my students into better people by teaching the values of life."
Outside of school, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching football, and is an Iowa Hawkeyes fan, particularly football, basketball and wrestling. |
