
New teacher Lisbon: Jennifer Tiede August 24, 2012
Jennifer Tiede, 28, is the new instrumental music teacher for grades 5-12.
Tiede, 28, lives in Marion with her husband, Dave, and their dog, Fergie.
She graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2002 and the University of Northern Iowa in 2007, and received a master of arts in music education from the University of St. Thomas in 2012.
Tiede has five years of experience as a teacher. She spent one year teaching in Fort Madison, and four years teaching band in grades 4-8 at Faithful Shepherd Catholic School in Eagan, Minn.
She said she had a strong desire to teach starting as a child, and her passion for music became her teaching outlet.
She described her teaching philosophy: "Music is an experience and art form that every human should have the opportunity to know about through creation and application."
Outside of school, she enjoys cooking, playing and performing music, decorating her house and spending time with friends and family.
