
New teacher Lisbon: Kelly Wood August 24, 2012
Kelly Wood, 26, is teaching second grade and is the junior high girls' track coach.
She is an Oxford native and currently lives between Mount Vernon and Solon.
Her family includes her parents, Bob and Ann Wood, her brother, Ryan, and her sister, Katie Wade. All live in Oxford.
Wood graduated from Clear Creek-Amana High School in 2004 and from Luther College in 2008.
Her previous teaching experience includes being a first grade long-term sub at North Bend Elementary in North Liberty and several years of subbing. She was a paraeducator at Lisbon during the last school year.
She described her teaching philosophy: "Every student is capable of succeeding, and each and every child has something to contribute to our classroom community."
Outside of school, her interests include running. She currently is training for the Twin Cities Marathon, which she will run on her Oct. 7 birthday. She also enjoys spending time with her 4-year-old niece, Hayden.
