Portrayal of MV exhibit opens
September 08, 2012

Artists' works of Mount Vernon are now on display at the local gallery.

Art Gallery and Supplies in uptown Mount Vernon organized Portrayal of Mount Vernon in July. More than 30 area artists painted, sculpted and photographed Mount Vernon. They captured store fronts such as Fuel, Bauman's and Lincoln Cafe, as well as Cornell College, the Nature Park quarry and other homes and businesses. While working, they interacted with the public.

"It was a beautiful weekend and exciting to see all of the creativity around town," said Denise Murphy, who owns Art Gallery and Supplies with her husband, Robert.

The completed works went on display at the gallery this past week, with the exhibit running through Oct. 28. All artwork will be for sale during this exhibition.  There will also be voting for awards through Sept. 14.

A public reception to recognize the artists and their creations is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 14.
