Robert Harry "Bob" Sproston, 83, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Visitation was from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. Funeral services were Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving Bob are his four sisters, Mary Lou Danley, Mechanicsville, Jeanette "Jan" (Kenneth) Coder, Anamosa, Jean (Al) Allsup, Lisbon, and Helen (Dean) Schneider, Center Point, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Bob in death were his parents; two brothers, James and Kenneth; Kenneth's wife, Elmeer; and a brother-in-law, Jim.
Bob was born March 24, 1929, in Anamosa to Harry and Hazel (Snyder) Sproston. He lived all of his life in the Mount Vernon area, helping farmers and working on the garbage trucks. He was proud to help out at the special police. He enjoyed playing bingo and attending Sauerkraut Days. He loved country music, and Lisbon girls' softball and boys' football. Bob played horseshoes and bowled.
