Ronald Lee Schott

Ronald Lee Schott, 68, formerly of Sigourney and Mount Vernon, passed away on March 2, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Ron was born June 29, 1944, in Scott County to Raymond and Eva Schott. Ron was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and married Betty Horras-McPherson in January 1968. They separated many years later. Ron owned and operated R.L. Schott Implements for more than 20 years in Sigourney.
Ron loved vacationing with his family, was a talented cook, an avid student of history such as the Civil War, World Wars I & II, the American presidents and collector of interesting/antique farm equipment. Ron held onto his faith during his recent hardships. Ron was a loving father; his greatest gift was his love for his grandchildren
Ron is survived by daughters, Stacy (Mike) David of Iowa City and Stephanie (Loren) Gerleman of Winterset; sons, Aaron (Sharon) Schott of North Liberty and Adam Schott and his partner, Mallory Shaffer, of North Liberty; eight grandchildren, Samantha and Parker David, Brandon and McKenzie Gerleman, Henry and Sarah Schott, and Kazin and Bryson Schott. Survivors also include sisters Marylin Kasak of Marion and her daughter, Carol (Archie) Woods of Davenport and their two daughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry.
A memorial service will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on April 6 at the Methodist Church, 85 North Jones Blvd., North Liberty.
