Winfred L. Barnes, 69, of Stanwood, passed away March 25, 2013, at Mercy Hospice House following a prolonged illness.
The family greeted visitors at Bell Funeral Home in Pacific, Mo., on March 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were March 30 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Singleton presiding. Burial was at Brush Creek Cemetery in Gray Summit, Mo.
Winfred is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Wilma (Jackson) Barnes; children, Brian Barnes, of Stanwood, Kevin Barnes and wife Terri (Mohn) Barnes of Pacific, Mo., and Tori Barnes-Brus and husband Andy Brus of Mount Vernon; three grandsons, Douglas Barnes and wife Amanda, Adam Barnes and Jackson Brus; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Jolenne Barnes; and six sisters and one brother. Winfred was preceded in death by his father, Winfred B. Barnes, mother, Leola (Cunningham) Barnes, and one sister.
Winfred Barnes spent most of his life in the St. Louis area, where he worked for the Chrysler Corporation for more than 36 years. He, his wife and one son moved to Iowa in 2008. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and watching Cardinals baseball.
