Margaret Joy Davis Phelps, 80, of Albert Lea, Minn., formerly of Lisbon, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, in Albert Lea.
A celebration of Margaret's life and love of music will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Regal Crown Receptions in Lisbon. There will be a private burial in Lisbon Cemetery.
Margaret was born June 10, 1932, the daughter of Harold and Mildred (Pfautz) Davis in Lisbon. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1949. She married Howard Phelps on Jan. 21, 1951, in the Davis home in Lisbon. She was a lifelong resident of Lisbon, but moved to Albert Lea in 2007.
Surviving are a twin brother, Martin (Edith) Davis of Tyler, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Lord (Don Barnhart) of Lisbon and Marianne (Robert) Zahorik of Albert Lea; three grandchildren, Shawn (Erin) Seiler of Mound, Minn., Carin Lord of Lisbon and Matthew Humphrey of Albert Lea; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mildred Davis; her husband, Howard Phelps; and a son, David Phelps, all of Lisbon.
Margaret's life was devoted to her husband and children and making a home for them. She was kind, friendly and always had a smile. Her faith was important to her and she was active in her church. She enjoyed traveling with Howard, gardening, and bird watching, and she created many beautiful crochet items. She enjoyed all types of music, but favored country and especially Vince Gill.
