Allen Paul Loehr

Allen Paul Loehr, 74, of Lisbon, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha.

Paul's Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mount Vernon, by the Rev. Jack Flaherty. The family greeted friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, and from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday. Burial is in Springville Cemetery.

Surviving Paul are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; his children, Roger (Jolene) of Wyoming, Jeff of West Branch, Debra (Thomas) Applebee of Cedar Rapids, Dan of Lisbon, John (Nenita) of Cedar Rapids, Judy (Fernando) Gil Pavia of Waterloo, Ed (Leanne) of Cedar Rapids, and Julie (Raymond) Osten of Cedar Rapids; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, James of Hale.

Preceding Paul in death were his parents and two sons, Theodore and Ronnie.

Paul was born Sept. 29, 1938, in Anamosa, the son of George and Bessie Underwood Loehr. Paul worked various jobs, retiring after 26 years from Amana Refrigeration. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #1526 of Conroy and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Mount Vernon.

Paul enjoyed fishing, camping and motorcycling. He was a hard-working man who was dedicated to his family.

A memorial fund in Paul's honor has been established.
