Iron Leaf Press wins Bright Idea Contest
May 10, 2013
The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group, a Main Street Organization, and Moon Eye Ventures has announced the winner of the Project Bright Idea business plan contest.
The Project Bright Idea selection committee announced Iron Leaf Press, a custom printing and design company utilizing letterpress printing techniques, as the winner.
As the winner of the Project Bright Idea business plan contest, Iron Leaf Press will have access to a 1,000-square-foot completely renovated facility in downtown Lisbon for up to 24 months rent-free, as well as a monthly utility allotment and various support services. The location is an historic building on Main Street that most recently housed Kivetta Software.
"The Mount Vernon-Lisbon community is an ideal place for me to grow," said Danielle Ameling, owner of Iron Leaf Press. "This community is a place where small businesses matter, and I look forward to being part of that legacy and drawing even more customers to the area."
Project Bright Idea was created by a group of community volunteers working in partnership with Lisbon-based Moon Eye Ventures.
Moon Eye Ventures is a privately held, for-profit company based in Lisbon. As a holding company, Moon Eye Ventures focuses on the revitalization of real estate, primarily for commercial use, with the intent of improving the long term economic viability within target communities.
The economic development contest was created to encourage and reward regional entrepreneurs who have developed a solid business plan.
"Danielle Ameling and Iron Leaf Press were interested and excited about this project from almost the very beginning," said Joe Jennison, director of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group. "We are so pleased that the selection committee chose this wonderful new business. This is a great opportunity for Iron Leaf and for all of us in the area that appreciate custom letterpress printing."
Iron Leaf Press will be located at 134 East Main St., Lisbon. After contract and lease negotiations are completed, Iron Leaf Press and the Project Bright Idea team will announce a public grand opening and tour of the new business, tentatively scheduled for mid-to-late June.
Based in Mount Vernon, Iron Leaf Press is a custom printing and design company that aims to merge the quality and craftsmanship from days gone by with modern design for a digital age. The company offers custom letterpress printing as well as unique, customer-focused design services.
