Doug Jorgenson, 64, of Redmond, Ore., died May 15, 2013, after a short battle with liver cancer.
He was born in Des Moines, the oldest son of Louise Messick Jorgenson and Warren George Jorgenson. He graduated from Bell High School, Bell, Calif; Clackamas Community College, Oregon City, Ore., in 1978; and with honors from Portland State University, Portland, Ore., in 1979.
Doug was very committed to his country, serving eight years in the U.S. Army, which included three combat tours in Vietnam and four years in the Oregon National Guard. His awards include the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
Doug was an avid elk and deer hunter, loved fishing, especially for salmon, trout and sturgeon, and loved duck and pheasant hunting, metal detecting and gold panning as well.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Trish Jorgenson; sons, Tom Jorgenson (Brenda) of Keizer, Ore., and Vince Anderson (Laura) of Gresham, Ore.; and daughters, Lisa Stearns of Redmond, Ore., Rikki Jones (John) of Redmond, and Joana Gamboa (Joe) of Santa Ana, Calif. His siblings surviving him are Larry Jorgenson (Karon) of Cypress, Calif.; Gary Jorgenson of Gladstone, Ore.; Loren Jorgenson (Vicki) of Omaha, Neb.; and Lorraine Peterson (Tom) or Archdale, N.C. Also surviving him is his father, Warren G. Jorgenson of Pebble Beach, Calif. (formerly of Mount Vernon); nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his beloved dogs, Sassi, Lollipop and Riley; as well as many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise M. Jorgenson, and son-in-law, Michael L. Stearns.
Services and interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Ore., at 2:30 p.m. on June 3.
