Cole Corner: Much-loved Wednesday Workshops return to Cole Library this summer
June 21, 2013 · Grace Chamberlain
If you're a patron of Cole Public Library, you might remember the much-loved summer program Wednesday Workshops. Originally led by Cathy Boggs, these weekly programs featured fun crafts and activities that were enjoyed by children of all ages. If you attended one of these workshops, you might have one of the paper crafts framed in your living room, or fondly remember mixing colored sand for sand art bottles.
Now you can create more memories like these at Cole Library!
This summer features the return of the popular program, and, as in past years, workshops will be held every Wednesday.
Topics will range from at-home science experiments to imagination-inspiring art projects, and include old favorites like soap making and new projects such as friendship bracelets and flubber. All Wednesday Workshops will be held in Room 108 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. These workshops are designed to be accessible for a wide range of ages and are great activities for the whole family to participate in.
Our current summer schedule is:
July 3 - Flubber
July 10 - Soap
July 17 - Friendship bracelets
July 24 - Rock animals
July 31 - Bubble printed paper
These programs are a part of our summer reading program. So if you're filling out a reading log, make sure to pick up a sticker for every workshop you attend. If you plan on attending, please RSVP so we have enough supplies on hand of everyone.
While I have your attention, I'll also make a short plug for our teen summer reading program events. Don't miss the library's screening of the funny, zombie-romance, "Warm Bodies," (rated PG-13) on June 21; our patriot tie dyeing event on July 2; our first anime movie, "Spirited Away" (rated PG), on July 10; and a marvelous super hero mask program on July 19. To keep up with these programs and many more, connect with us online at our website, colelibrary.org, and "like" us on Facebook under the name Cole Public Library.
