Lions take narrow win over ST Trojans

The Lisbon baseball team earned a narrow 4-3 win over South Tama to start off last week's competition.

The Trojans took the early lead, scoring three runs in the second inning.

The Lions answered in the third inning.

Lisbon's Hunter Caspers was the first to get on base in the third inning after getting hit by a pitch. Then Keegan Tritle stepped to the plate and hit the first pitch over the right field fence for a home run, scoring two Lion runs and giving Lisbon the 4-3 lead.

There wasn't another run scored in the game. Tritle was the pitcher and he struck out the final two South Tama batters with runners in scoring position. The Lions earned the 4-3 win.

Lisbon is at Preston today (Thursday, June 20) for a doubleheader. Saturday, they are at North Cedar on the field in Lowden. Monday, the Lions host Midland and Tuesday they are at Monticello.

RECAP: Lisbon's Kortemeyer led the way, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Tritle homered in the third inning, giving Lisbon the 4-3 lead with his one hit of the night.

RECAP: Lisbon's Springsteen and Light led the way for the Lions, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Springsteen doubled and earned two RBI, Light scored twice. Woodward was the winning pitcher, throwing seven innings, striking out five and walking just one.

RECAP: The Lions held the lead through three innings but Calamus-Wheatland held Lisbon scoreless for the final four innings and earned the 6-4 win. Lisbon's Tritle earned two of the Lions' four hits and was credited with two RBI.
