Final shot decides Kraut golf tourney
August 16, 2013
A final shot by Brian Krob earned the win in the fourth annual Sauerkraut Days golf tournament Friday at Kernoustie Golf Club. And it almost won him a new car.
On the final hole of the three-person best shot nine-hole tourney, tourney sponsor Lynch Ford Chevrolet offered a 2013 Ford Fusion for anyone who hit a hole-in-one. Krob's shot landed about 15 inches from the pin.
He might not have won the car, but the shot earned him and his teammates, Josh Jones and Tom Kortemeyer, the tourney title. They combined for a 28, the same score as the team of Dean Bennett, Ethan Kamerling and Matt Welsh. The Krob team won on a card back because they birdied the final hole on Krob's shot.
Third place in the tournament went to George Robinson, Doren Montgomery and Adam Jennett, who shot a 31.
