Raises approved for MV school staff
August 23, 2013

All Mount Vernon school employees will receive a 3.77 percent increase in their pay this school year. School board members at their Aug. 12 meeting approved the same rate increase for support staff and administrators that they had approved for all teaching staff at their July 22 meeting.

Superintendent Gary O'Malley at the August meeting recommended that "the 3.77 percent bargained by the Mount Vernon Education Association for teaching staff be applied consistently to all support staff." The board then approved that recommendation.

The salaries for superintendent Gary O'Malley and activities director/assistant principal Joe Wallace were determined before the raise; other administrators received the 3.77 percent increase.

The salaries for administrators this school year are: superintendent O'Malley, $141,000; high school principal Steve Brand, $98,991; middle school principal Bob Haugse, $87,167; elementary principal Kate Jones, $85,091; and activities director/assistant principal Wallace, $75,000.
