Lisbon crushes Danville
September 28, 2013 · Crystal Eskelsen

Lisbon's offense put on a clinic again this week, outscoring Danville 46-0 in the first half and going on to earn the 54-2 win over the Bears in Class A, District 5 play.

The Lions totaled 458 yards of offense while holding Danville to just 117 yards in the away game.

"Our kids didn't start off on defense very well," said Kent Allison, Lisbon head coach. "This is in part because we have not practiced consistently well."

The Lisbon scoring began with a Logan Rickard keeper from seven yards away for a touchdown. Lion Cameron Jorgenson tacked on two more points on the point-after run to give them an 8-0 lead.

The next Lion score came on a Rickard pass to Ryan Light from 36 yards away, and Connor Woodward scampered in on the point after attempt to give Lisbon the 16-0 lead.

Still in the first quarter, Lisbon scored again on another Rickard pass, this time to Carter Happel from 42 yards away. Jorgenson carried for the two point conversion, giving the Lions the 24-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Lisbon began scoring with a Tyler Svatosch seven-yard run for a touchdown and then Woodward picked up a Danville fumble and found his way to the end zone from five yards away. Tanner Sackett-Hopkins added the two-point conversion catch to give the Lions the 38-0 lead.

Lisbon's final scoring drive of the first half culminated in a Matt Montgomery reception from Rickard from 10 yards away. Benton Frey carried for the two-point conversion, and the Lions' lead grew to 46-0 at halftime.

The Lions' only score in the second half was on a Svatosch nine-yard carry. TJ Krob carried for the two-point conversion.

Lisbon's leading ball carrier was Jorgenson, with nine carries for 90 yards.

The Lions play at home Friday against Winfield-Mt. Union who beat Highland-Riverside last week, 34-32.
