Senior leads can drive
October 11, 2013

A Mount Vernon High School senior's You CAN Drive is under way.

Cory Brannaman created the project through the High School Leadership Institute, a week-long leadership camp at Wartburg College. He's encouraging people to donate food that will be given to the pantry at Southeast Linn Community Center in Lisbon.

"This is a great time for donations because Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up," Brannaman said. "I want the pantry at Southeast Linn to be ready for the holiday season."

There are several drop-off locations, including St. John's Catholic Church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon, and Seeds of Faith Lutheran Church in Lisbon. All three Mount Vernon schools also have donation boxes.

In addition, people can call Brannaman at 895-8291 and he will pick up donations.

"I feel very fortunate to live in a community where so many people are willing to give to the less fortunate," Brannaman said. "It takes many people to make this project happen, and thanks to the good people we are surrounded with, my You CAN Drive will be a success."
