Lions hosts Springville for conference title
October 11, 2013 · Crystal Eskelsen

The Class 1A, No. 9 Lisbon volleyball team hosts Springville tonight (Thursday, Oct. 10) in a battle for the regular season conference title in the Tri-Rivers West.

"This week is critical for us," said Lance Kamaus, Lisbon head coach.

Both the Orioles and the Lions are 4-0 in conference play, so the winner will earn the conference title.

Last week, Lisbon played just one match, and it was against Maquoketa Valley.

The Lions handled games one and three with ease, winning by nine points or more.

Game two was a come-from-behind victory. After falling behind 16-9, the Lions battled back and earned the three-point victory.

"We really helped ourselves at the service line, as we were 73-for-74 serving with 10 aces," Kamaus said.

Lisbon's Danielle Heiken led the team with five aces.

The Lions were also blocking the ball better, getting nine blocks as a team. Kyla Ford led the way in blocking with four. Teammate Paige Felderman had three blocks.

Lisbon also hosts Central City next Tuesday.
