Edward Feuss, 82, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Unity Point Living Center East in Cedar Rapids.
The family greeted friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. Graveside services with military honors followed at Lisbon Cemetery beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Surviving Ed are his wife, Claudia, in Mount Vernon; four children, Lois Feuss and Doralee (Jim) Davis, all of North Liberty, Raymond (Jaci Pins) Feuss of Waterloo, and Heather Feuss of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Dylan and Brett Davis, and Tyler, Cory and Annie Feuss; one great-granddaughter, Kinley Davis; two sisters, Arnita Feuss and Arlene Galloway; one brother, William Feuss; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ed in death were his parents; five brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Verney, Henry and Elmer; and a sister, Darlene Short.
Ed was born June 5, 1931, in Toronto to William and Frieda Kriepke Feuss. The family moved to Ely, where he attended school. After school he went to work at Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids. He left for four years to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, where he was a gunner on the U.S.S. Whiteside. Ed returned to his job after the service at "Iowa Man" as a Tow Motor Operator. He retired after 42 years in 1993. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #788 of Cedar Rapids. Ed married Claudia Millard on Jan. 3, 1975, in Illinois.
He loved to tease, joke and laugh, and watch his grandchildren in their sports. Ed enjoyed spending time at Marion Milestones playing cards, board games and socializing.
A memorial fund in Ed's honor has been established.
