Cole Corner: Get ‘amnesty’ and help SELCC
December 05, 2013 · Cathy Boggs
Southeast Linn Community Center's food bank has seen an increase in need in recent months. To help them - and to ease the burden of fines for library patrons - we are having "Amnesty Days" now through Friday, Dec. 20.
I have contacted Southeast Linn Community Center in Lisbon to see what is needed currently in the food pantry. It is toiletry items. These items are very necessary, but Southeast Linn is unable to purchase them in bulk, and these items cannot be purchased with food stamps. Items in this category are toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, toilet paper and cleaning supplies.
So dig under the couch cushions, behind the beds, in the toy box, and find all of those missing and overdue library materials.
If you have already returned your library materials, you can just head to the cupboard or the grocery store. For every item you bring in to the library we will remove $3 off your library fines.
If you don't have any library fines, you can still make a donation. We don't, however, pay it forward or give you change. It is all for a great cause - getting library accounts back in the black and making sure the food pantry has the items it needs to distribute.
