Russell donates to Locks of Love

Six-year-old Peyton Russell of Mount Vernon recently donated her hair to Locks of Love, an organization that provides hair pieces to disadvantaged children suffering from medical hair loss, often due to cancer and chemotherapy.
Peyton, the daughter of Mike and Jodi Russell, has a connection with children who might benefit from her donation. She has been battling NF-1 Neurofibromatosis, which resulted in tumors on the optic nerve to each eye. Treatment included 24 months of chemotherapy.
Linda Brooks, Peyton's aunt, cuts Peyton's hair. When Peyton was in for a trim recently, Linda told her about Locks of Love.
"When she found out that her hair would be used to make a wig for another child, she was all on board," Linda said. "It is a wonderful example of how something as little as donating hair can make a difference in someone else's life."
