TIPS training set for Saturday, Jan. 25
January 17, 2014
The Mount Vernon and Lisbon Police Departments and RC RAIL coalition will be holding a TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) class Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon City Hall. The class teaches intervention techniques to alcohol servers to promote responsible alcohol consumption and prevent sales to underage or intoxicated patrons.
TIPS training takes a proactive approach in preventing alcohol misuse, recognizing the signs of intoxication, and reducing the chance that an alcohol related incident will occur. The training is also for those who manage alcohol servers. TIPS training can reduce liability and dram shop insurance costs, as well as improve business and community relations. The certification lasts for three years after completing the course successfully.
