Lions sweep EB

The Lisbon softball team played a total of nine innings against East Buchanan to earn two wins over the Bucs Thursday, June 12.

The first game ended in five innings, and the nightcap was over in four.

The Lions totaled 32 hits and 28 runs scored as they swept past East Buchanan.

The rest of their week was tough as they lost four games at the Davenport tournament and then dropped a doubleheader against Class 1A, No. 13 Bellevue Marquette.

Lisbon's overall record sits at 12-7.

The Lions are at the Humboldt tournament Friday and Saturday. Monday, Lisbon is at Maquoketa Valley. Wednesday, June 25, they host Mount Vernon.

RECAP: In four innings, the Lions totaled 20 hits and demolished the Bucs 18-3. Cassie Smith led the Lions at the plate, going 3-for-4, including two doubles and two RBI. The winning pitcher for Lisbon was Kaite Montgomery, who struck out two and walked three.

RECAP: Lisbon scored five runs on 10 hits, but it just wasn't enough to keep up with Waterloo West's 17 hits and seven runs. Lion pitcher Kaite Montgomery was tagged with the loss. Lisbon was led at the plate by Kelsi Griffiths, who was 3-for-4 at the plate including a double and one RBI.

RECAP: Class 5A, No. 9 Muscatine had 15 hits in four innings and shut down Lisbon. The Lions scored one run in the game without earning a single hit, as Madelyn Morningstar reached on a walk and then eventually scored on a passed ball.

RECAP: Lisbon took an early 2-0 lead with the help of several first-inning walks, but that would be the end of the Lions' scoring. Class 1A, No. 13 Bellevue Marquette added one in the bottom of the first and then two more in the second to regain the lead and eventually take the win. Lisbon was led by McKenna Kilburg, who was 2-for-4 at the plate.
