Lisbon keeps hitting the ball with power

The Lisbon baseball team won six in a row this past week, taking their overall record to 12-5.

The Lions earned wins over East Buchanan, South Tama, Danville, Highland-Riverside and Bellevue Marquette.

The week started with a 10-6 win over South Tama, where Connor Woodward pitched seven solid innings and also hit the ball well, going 4-for-5 at the plate, including two doubles and two RBI.

Then the Lions swept East Buchanan, totaling 20 hits in two games while holding the Bucs to just eight hits.

Saturday, the Lion pitchers held their opponents to a total of five hits in two games, earning Lisbon wins along the way.

In a 12-2 stomping of Bellevue Marquette Monday, the Lions were propelled by two big hits - Keegan Tritle had a grand slam, and Ryan Light had a two-run homer.

Lisbon plays today (Thursday, June 19) at Cedar Valley Christian. Saturday, they are at Mason City Newman. Monday, the Lions are at Maquoketa Valley. Tuesday, they host Central City. Wednesday, June 25, Lisbon is at BGM, Brooklyn.

RECAP: Lisbon's Connor Woodward earned the win on the mound, striking out five batters and giving up three hits in just under three innings of pitching. Woodward also got the job done at the plate, going 4-for-5 at bat including two doubles and two RBI.

RECAP: Lisbon's Brock Givens led the way, going 3-for-3 at the plate including a ground rule double that bounced over the park fence. Givens also had two RBI and two runs scored. Ryan Kortemeyer was the winning pitcher, going all five innings and striking out six East Buchanan batters.

RECAP: The Lions scored 13 runs on seven hits in the seventh inning to throw the game wide open. Both Ryan Light and Hunter Robinson singled twice in the inning. Lisbon's winning pitcher was Colton Krob, who pitched three innings and struck out three batters.

RECAP: With the help of three walks and a single by Colton Krob, the Lions took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and just kept building on that. The pitching win went to Kortemeyer, who struck out six Highland batters and walked just one. Brock Givens led the Lion offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate including a home run in the fifth inning.

RECAP: Lisbon scored 10 runs in the fifth inning, getting singles from their first three batters, followed by a double, two singles and a walk. The pitching win went to Ryley Scott, who struck out three batters and gave up just four hits in five innings. Lion Ryan Light led the offense, going 4-for-5 at the plate and earning three RBI.

RECAP: Leading 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth, the Lions blew the game wide open with a pair of home runs. Keegan Tritle was first to hit the ball out of the park, earning a grand slam and bringing in four Lisbon runs. Then two batters later Ryan Light homered and earned two RBI. The pitching win went to Connor Woodward, who struck out five and walked none.
