June 26, 2014 · Kerry Kahl, Cornell College
Cornell College has announced that Matt Ditch, Class of '04, Kelly Dodd, '00, and Jim Wallace, '68, will make up the 2014 Athletics Hall of Fame Class this fall during Homecoming Weekend.
The hall of fame induction ceremony is set for Saturday, Oct. 18, in conjunction with the annual Alumni "C" Club Breakfast that starts at 8 a.m.
Ditch, a native of Center Point, excelled as a rare four-sport athlete during his time on the Hilltop. He was a two-time first team all-conference performer in both football and basketball, claimed a conference track and field title in the long jump and also played baseball for the Rams.
Dodd was a conference champion in the women's discus, an event in which she garnered NCAA Division III All-American honors during the 1999 outdoor season. She still holds the school record in the discus at 139 feet, 11.50 inches.
Wallace, a Mount Vernon High School graduate, started three years at center for Cornell's football team and then spent 32 seasons on the Rams' football staff as an assistant coach. Wallace also held roles as head track and field, head golf and assistant basketball coach at Cornell.
The 2014 inductees will be recognized at halftime of the Oct. 18 Homecoming game between the Rams and Knox College at Ash Park Stadium.
