Lisbon’s Kohl wraps up strong drag racing season

Lisbon's Matt Kohl is among the fastest of the fast when it comes to drag racing.

Late last month, Kohl Racing won the Quick 16 Track championship at Earlville Raceway, in Earlville, Iowa. The Quick 16 Class is composed of the fastest 16 cars at the track on that given day. This class was made up of racers from Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. More than 40 cars tried out for the field over the 2009 season.

Kohl said he couldn't have earned the Quick 16 success without Shawn Carter of Zoo Keeper Chassis in Lisbon for keeping the chassis in working order and Russ Sauer, also of Lisbon, for the use of his trailer for the final race.

This season, Kohl Racing ran a 235" Race Tech Dragster that covered the quarter mile in 7.60 seconds at 176 m.p.h.
