Mount Vernon Farmersí Market has new volunteer managers
February 17, 2012
David and Mickey Miller, volunteer managers of the Mount Vernon Farmers' Market since 2006, have announced that they are stepping down.
† "Our own businesses are growing, and we no longer have the time that farmers' market management requires," said Mickey Miller, who is also the owner/operator of Mount Vernon Confections
† Laura and Danielle Strabala, of Lisbon, have accepted the market management position.† The Strabalas have been growers and farmers' market vendors for five years. Both work at Gary's Foods during the winter.
† "We thought they were a perfect choice," David Miller said.† "They are lifelong members of this community; they're organized, enthusiastic and will bring new ideas and improvements to the market."
† "We're very excited for the challenge," Danielle Strabala said.† "The farmers' market and the Mount Vernon-Lisbon community are really important to us and we're confident we can do the job."
† "The Millers and Jeff Walberg before them have done a great job managing the Mount Vernon Farmers' Market," Laura Strabala said. "We look forward to keeping that tradition going."
† The new contact phone number for the market is 319-310-4145.† The email address remains firstname.lastname@example.org.
† The Mount Vernon Farmers' Market is held in the First Street Community Center gym (old middle school), 221 1st St N.E., twice a month during the winter. The summer markets are held weekly in Memorial Park, May-October.†
